Centre for Community Neurological Studies

The Centre for Community Neurological Studies is a collaboration between NeuroEducation and Leeds Metropolitan University.

Established in 1996 it has gone from strength to strength expanding all the time. It began with one diploma and 15 students. Now over 1,100 professionally qualified staff from all over the United Kingdom and abroad have passed one of our courses.

Presently the Centre offers four Masters and four professional diploma courses covering epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's disease and stroke.  We also offer a one module level 6 course entitled "Multiple Sclerosis Care in the Community."

And finally, unique in the UK, the Centre offers a Level 1 distance learning course, expressly for people who have epilepsy or who are involved in the care of people with epilepsy as a family member or in a voluntary capacity. The Department of Health has recognised the Vocational Certificate in Epilepsy as an "innovative approach” to family education in its’ “expert patient” initiative.
