Centre for Community Neurological Studies

The Centre offers highly successful professional diploma courses in Epilepsy Care, Stroke Care, Parkinson's Disease Care and Multiple Sclerosis Care.

These courses attract healthcare professionals such as nurses, occupational therapists and physiotherapists from all parts of the UK and abroad, enabling them to obtain specialist knowledge and skills essential to their continuing professional development (CPD) needs. More than 3000 students have enrolled on the courses since their inception in 1996, so that we have become the largest provider of distance learning courses in neurological subjects in the UK.

Possibly unique in the UK, the Centre offers a Level 1 distance learning course, expressly for people who have epilepsy or who are involved in the care of people with epilepsy as a family member or in a voluntary capacity. The Department of Health has recognised the Vocational Certificate in Epilepsy as an "innovative approach” to family education in its’ “expert patient” initiative.

Our latest developments at Masters level, covering epilepsy and multiple sclerosis practice are attracting all our usual health professionals, plus doctors.
